Simple Changes...

At the end of term 1 I attend Bromley School's open night, on their journey to become a Reggio Emilia inspired school.

The Reggio approach is an education philosophy based on the principles of respect and responsibility. Bromley started their Reggio journey in April 2010 in the Junior school, and now in 2014 it has become a full school approach.

I absolutely loved seeing this approach to teaching and learning.  The teachers see every reading, writing and maths groups each day, and the children work at different stations though out the day that are literacy, numeracy or provocation focused.  The provocations are children driven, using their prior knowledge and interests to drive the learning that is taking place.

Since that visit, I have thought more carefully about what I want my children to achieve when they are not working with me.  Having different 'stations' focusing on different areas of the curriculum, where they can explore and inquire makes perfect sense to me

Here is the video sharing the beginning of the Junior School at Bromley's Journey.

Drive your passion

This year for professional development we all get to focus on our own 'passions'
My passion for this year is focusing on MLE  (Modern Learning Environment)
At the end of this coming term I will getting 'hole in the wall' and become part of a MLE.  This blog is where I can diary my journey and share my discoveries as we transition to this new environment.
